Why work for Little Local you ask? Well, we're a busy cafe and delicatessen located along the busy High street shopping strip in Northcote.
We have attained a loyal following of customers who come for our food and coffee and while we are sad to see our current head chef leave (for good reasons!!), we are excited to see what our new head chef will bring to the business.

We are now also, about to embark on an expansion of the business with a large renovation to the back area of the building and property to expand our dining and function space, which will include a 'greenhouse-style' indoor outdoor courtyard area with kitchen modifications to suit. So we are seeking a candidate who will want to stay and develop along with the business.
We are currently a small team in both the front of house and kitchen with great comraderie between us all, so a person who can work within a team environment is a must.

The roles and responsibilities of the head chef will be:

• manage the day to day operations of the kitchen
• prepping and cooking
• design seasonal menu on a regular basis.
• rostering of kitchen staff and sourcing/interviewing potential candidates
• stock ordering and food cost control
• training and encouraging team members to develop skills

A successful candidate must have the following attributes:

• must have worked in high turnover a la carte restaurant or cafe for at least 5 years
• must have worked as a sous chef at reputable establishments for at least two years
• commitment to high quality and consistency

• have desire to learn and develop skills
• a team leader that motivates team members and help others to develop skills
• must be reliable and hardworking
