We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Worldwide Food Safety and Compliance team as a Private Brands Food Safety and Technical Manager.
This position will focus on managing all technical aspects relating to the launch of new own label food products for Amazon Fresh Stores and Amazon Fresh online, ensuring they exceed customer expectations. The role will be involved in all stages from new product concept, through to the launch of the product and post launch product quality.
The individual will bring experience and knowledge of a number of food categories to the team and support private label decisions. This role requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in food retailing and manufacture. The individual will work directly with suppliers and internal cross-functional stakeholders to facilitate successful product launches.
The individual must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills, a high bar for quality, strong customer obsession, and a track record of operating in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, have strong attention to detail, and be motivated by a fast-paced start up environment.
High-level summary of deliverables:
Work with wider team to ensure product selection is appropriate and will meet or exceed customer expectations
Support stakeholders in supplier selection decisions and sourcing strategy to develop an optimized supply base
Work with manufacturing partners to develop products, product processes and associated technical documentation
Audit facilities against Amazon Standards, create audit reports and close out corrective action plans
Attend pre-production / first production runs ensuring product and process match that defined in the specification
Continuously identify and communicate improvement opportunities
Leverage technology to manage compliance processes
Keep abreast of emerging issues in food safety and quality
Support the wider food safety team by contributing to shared process and policy development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field
5 years’ experience in food retailing
Experience of a range of product categories
Ability to work independently and autonomously
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail
Demonstrated experience creating and documenting processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years’ experience in food retailing and manufacturing
In depth understanding of multiple food product categories and processing steps
Outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills
Experienced in working with outsourced processes
Experienced in working with international suppliers
