We currently have an opportunity for a Manager, Food Safety & Quality Management Systems to join our team at our newly constructed, state of the art, Richardson Innovation Centre, located in downtown Winnipeg, MB. This position is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance and Food Safety (QAFS) team to develop and maintain relevant and effective QAFS risk management systems, while providing guidance and support to the operating business and technical teams on the implementation and management of system changes, challenging risk assessments, and preventative controls for ongoing improvements and maintaining regulatory and certification(s) compliance at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and facilitate corporate training and development systems and programs
• Lead regulatory, customer and corporate audits at Richardson operating facilities
• Contribute to the incident investigation process and the design and development of applicable risk based preventative measures and controls; implement and measure the effectiveness of such measures and controls
• Support the operating business in 3rd party certification activities
• Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory QAFS and import laws impacting the business; communicate all changes to the applicable business units
• Ensure proper design, implementation, and management of QAFS systems and programs
• Support the QAFS team in supplier risk management activities for compliance with applicable certification and regulatory requirements
• Apply ongoing improvements to QAFS systems and programs

Qualifications:

• Degree in Science or a related discipline coupled with three to five years’ experience in quality assurance and food safety; or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of North American quality assurance, food safety and food defense regulations, systems and practices
• Working knowledge of GFSI Food Safety Certification Systems
• Strong analytical, organizational and investigative skills
• Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills
