Quotes and sayings from Benjamin Disraeli
Benjamin Disraeli was a British statesman, novelist, and Conservative politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, from 1868 to 1868 and from 1874 to 1880. He played a central role in the creation of the modern Conservative Party, defining its policies and its broad outreach. Disraeli is remembered for his influential voice in world affairs, his political battles with the Liberal Party leader William Ewart Gladstone, and his one-nation conservatism or “Tory democracy”. He made the Conservatives the party most identified with the British Empire and military action to expand it, both of which were popular among British voters. Disraeli was born on December 21, 1804, in London, England, and died on April 19, 1881, in London, England. He was a prolific writer, publishing over 20 novels and numerous other works. Disraeli’s works have had a profound impact on British literature and politics, and he is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in British intellectual history.
