James Matthew Barrie was a Scottish novelist and playwright, best remembered as the creator of Peter Pan 1. He was born on May 9, 1860, in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland.
Barrie was the ninth child of ten, all of whom were schooled in at least the three Rs in preparation for possible professional careers. He was a small child and drew attention to himself with storytelling.
Barrie’s career spanned a wide variety of styles and topics, ranging from his beginnings in the Symbolist movement to criticizing imperialism between the two World Wars.
