Description:
ATCO Frontec is seeking a Food Safety Specialist to join our Two Rivers Lodge project in Fort St John, BC. The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting with the implementation and monitoring of all QA/QC processes. They will oversee the implementation and monitoring of all food safety standards, controls, processes, internal audits, training and continually improving the quality of service or product to ensure high customer satisfaction. Ensure full compliance with Federal & British Columbia regulation, legislation, HACCP, ISO 22000:2018 Certification governances in addition to supporting ATCO Food Safety policy actions.
Where We Work and Live:
The Two Rivers Lodge is a 2400 bed workforce housing facility located 7km outside of Fort St John, BC. Travel and accommodations are included with this position. This position is based on a rotation of either 18 days on and 10 days off OR 15 days on and 13 days off.
Responsibilities:
Leads and directs the day-to-day food safety activities and quality control of the culinary operation working directly with the Executive Chef, kitchen service personnel, and all personnel involved in the process;
Responsible for implementing and developing the Food Safety and Sanitation Plan in strict compliance with Company Food Service Plans, Guides, Provincial and Federal regulations, and Project Agreement Plans;
Responsible for executing all policies, procedures, and processes in the delivery of Food Safety/Quality initiatives
Ensures that all meals are prepared and served to the highest standards possible;
Consults with the client and the management team to support the Food Safety and Quality Control needs of the staff and customers of the project;
Ensures letters of concerns, corrective action notices are addressed, formulate plans and executes, in a timely and appropriate manner;
Directs day-to-day Food Safety/Quality Control activities which include training, temperature taking and log completion, Cleaning and safety audits, adherence to all standards, and contributing to the development of new techniques in all areas of operation.
Establishes/maintains safe procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation, and service of food
Attends and contributes to regular management reviews of the project’s performance as it adheres to key performance indicators of Food Safety and Quality;
Anticipates Food Safety, Project agreement Non-Compliance, Quality Control issues and takes corrective actions to resolve;
Ensures timely preparation and submission of various reports, logs and audits and returns in accordance with Project and Corporate requirements or as directed by management.
Support operations of HSEQ needs of management, staff and customers of the Facility and Lodge.
Performs regular Food Safety/Quality interventions, inspections and audits;
Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance and ensures PM’s are being done
Qualifications:
Experience in British Columbia Food Service Operations in a Food Safety/Inspector Role;
Experience in British Columbia’s provincial Food Safety Rules, regulations, Acts and Work Safe BC regulations
Technical Certificate or bachelor’s degree in food science, food safety, natural sciences, biology, or a related field
A minimum of 5-7 years experience in a food-related quality assurance role
Prior experience working in large facilities such as universities, hospitals or a remote camp setting.
Proven experience developing and maintaining a Food Safety/Quality Assurance program
Professional communication skills , oral and written in a leadership role
Strong ability to train, mentor, coach and guide performance to personnel in all positions
Innovative and creative problem solver in finding solutions and opportunities
Strong organizational, time management, and report writing skills
Proficient using MS Office software
