We are looking for someone who either has pre-existing experience of working as an Assistant Project Manager, or someone who has worked in a Project Management environment as a Project Assistant (or similar), who is looking for a step into becoming an Assistant Project Manager.

What does the job involve?

Undertake the activities that will ensure the successful delivery of the project. This will typically include supporting the Project Manager (PM) with the following key responsibilities:
Deliver the key results and performance metrics of the project, including gross margin and cash.
Supporting the PM in the creation of key bid artefacts (i.e. delivery schedule, estimate, gate packs etc.) to ensure swift contract placement by the customer.
Project Governance (the Gate and Stage Processes) over the bid and project delivery activities to ensure project, technical, procurement and support processes are applied and are effective in controlling risks.
Ensure all business planning and reporting is published in accordance with Business directives.
Drive Quality, Cost & Delivery performance through close working with other functions.
Manage project stakeholders; ensuring strong communications are established and maintained.
Taking direct management of project risk, opportunities and schedule management working with the PMO.
Assisting the PM with internal project kick off, creating first draft of the supporting artefacts required with a view to lead future kick off events.
Ensure “Lessons Learned Management” is applied to all projects, entailing application of lessons from other projects, and capturing lessons learned on specific projects under your control.

What are we looking for?

Knowledge of project management skills, ideally from working in a complex, multidisciplinary, multi-site organisation.
Communication skills with the ability to communicate occasionally with customers, partners, suppliers and other parts of the business (stakeholder management skills).
Written presentation and report writing skills.
Understanding of generic processes and techniques used to schedule project activities (for example; Work Breakdown Structure, Organisational Breakdown Structure, milestones, dependencies, Earned Value Management).
