Position Summary
We have an excellent opportunity to join our Nestlé team as an Area Quality Manager at our Confectionery factory in Halifax, Yorkshire. This role is responsible to lead, guide and motivate the engineering team to ensure the plant is available to produce our fantastic products on time whilst meeting all quality and safety requirements.
Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street amongst several other well-known brands such as Quality Street and After Eight. These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.
A day in the life of an Area Quality Manager
• Due to the factory evolving the first part of the role will involve the primary set up of QA systems to support new manufacturing lines in the factory
• Contribute as a member of the area Local Committee and factory Quality Assurance team. Work with the team to create and maintain compliance in hygiene, food safety and quality
• Deliver quality objectives such as complaints reduction, foreign body reduction and First Time Right (FTR) improvements
• Ensure GMP is maintained at the required standard for the area
• Support the Nestlé Continuous Excellence programme in the quest for zero defects
• Take a lead on delivering quality within the area to reduce losses
• Carry out continuous improvement activities using every day problem solving
• Promote quality awareness and the commitment to quality across the area
• Ensure the successful management of quality incidents to minimise negative impact to the business.
• Manage non routine product release and stock status
• Carry out root cause analysis related to incidents and ensure corrective actions are closed out
• Carry out consumer and IMS complaint investigations to provide feedback and identify improvement actions
• Review, update and communicate area quality systems including HACCP and QMS
• Support area readiness for internal and external audits (carrying out internal audits as required)
• Perform corrective action follow up for audit non conformities
What will make you successful
• Ideally a degree or equivalent in a Science / Engineering / Quality related subject
• Demonstrable experience in quality roles working in FMCG (Food and Drink) Factory environments
• Experience working in an environment committed to continuous improvement
• Experience in successfully implementing quality assurance programmes, influencing at all levels within the factory
• Experience of training, coaching and challenging people in reaching targets
• Participating or leading improvement projects delivering tangible quality improvements
• Ability to establish relationships at all levels both externally and internally
• Knowledge of working with Quality Management Systems and food safety
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, products and their norms
• Understanding of auditing and verification
