Corporate Food Safety Management Lead

(Location - Flexible)
The Corporate Food Safety Management Lead role provides functional leadership to establish and maintain the Mars Inc. Food Safety Management system framework to ensure end products are safe for pet and human consumption and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
The role will ensure that Mars Inc has an aligned approach to implement PRPs and perform a Hazard analysis and will lead the design, development, deployment, ongoing maintenance, and continuous improvement of these supporting procedures needed to deliver compliance to the food safety management system across all segments and divisions for Mars Incorporated.
The role will be responsible to inform stakeholders of relevant external changes to FSSC scheme and other external standards. Through partnership with digital team this role will define the digital capabilities required to manage food safety and support their development and deployment.
The role influences stakeholders across segments and in the corporate team to ensure application of the Food Safety Management system framework. The role can be performed from any MARS location.

What are we looking for?

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in a science field, preferably in food safety science or medical science
Minimum 5+ years experience working in an operational role, with some factory experience
Deep technical expertise and proven implementation of food safety management systems (FSSC 22000 or equivalent), pre-requisite programs, hazard analysis and control plans
Strong knowledge and proven implementation of quality or food safety management systems and standards across organizational layers (i.e. business units, manufacturing sites, market units, etc.)
Experience working with different stakeholders such as R&D, Supply, Commercial and Activity Management
Good knowledge of metrics, statistics and reporting methods to interrogate audit output data and identify insights for improvement
Preferred experiences include: Worked in different segments or divisions; External networks with food safety experts; Demonstrated ability to lead and influence senior leaders and their teams across all segments, all regions and across multiple functions; Travel up to 20% ; Fluent in English

What would your key responsibilities be?

Lead the development of the food safety management framework, including Pre-requisite programs (PRP) technical specifications, procedures, and risk assessment tools for the areas of responsibility while ensuring connection with FSSC 22000
Lead the definition of the deployment plan and deploy the material developed into the segments for implementation
Lead the creation of the compliance reporting tools for this area
Provide technical leadership and conduct train the trainer sessions on the material developed
Lead a cross segment Community of Practice providing a forum for the development and communication of best practices and learnings across units
Perform Technical and Internal audits for Segments and Corporate functions to verify adequacy and compliance of current business processes
