Associate Director Operations Excellence

Position Summary

The Operational Excellence and Improvement Lead is responsible for leading the technical operations organization’s efforts to continuously improve processes and operations, enhance quality, and increase efficiency.
The Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement Lead will implement and lead a program for Global Technical Operations. The role will work with Technical Operations and Quality to embed the principles of Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement within the organisation and culture

Roles and Responsibilities:

•     Develop and implement a program to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the organisation
•     Work closely with key stakeholders across External Manufacturing Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and Regulatory to identify opportunities for improvement, prioritize projects, and develop and implement solutions.
•     Develop a long term continuous improvement roadmap linked to the strategic business objectives.
•     Use the principles and tools of lean Six Sigma to analyze processes, identify root causes, and develop and implement solutions.
•     Develop a lean toolkit for the global technical operations team.
•     Work cross functionally to ensure that continuous improvement initiatives are aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the organisation
•     Measure and report on the effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives, including the impact on key performance indicators such as cost, quality, and customer satisfaction
•     Instill a continuous improvement culture within the organisation to ensure the reliable and complaint manufacture and supply of products to our Patients.
•     Ensure the sharing and adoption of best practices across Amicus.
•     Support business leaders in establishing and maintaining metrics for tracking our performance.
•     Provide coaching and training for continuous improvement activities.
•     Participate in routine program updates with site leadership team.

Educational Requirements

•       Degree in a relevant field, such as Engineering or Sciences
•       Certification in lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or higher), or similar.

Professional Work Experience Requirements

•       Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
•       At least 7 years of experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, or related field in the pharmaceutical industry
•       Strong analytical skills and experience using lean Six Sigma, or similar tools and techniques
•       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
•       Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and on budget.
•       Knowledge of financial concepts and techniques used to establish value propositions of operational changes

Experience and Skills

•       A passion for helping patients with rare diseases
•       A strong moral compass and clear alignment with Amicus Core Values
•       Strong background in lean Six Sigma and a proven track record of implementing successful continuous improvement initiatives in the pharmaceutical industry.
•       Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence the direction and completion of goals without having a formal leadership role.
•       Able to act operationally, tactically, and strategically, to implement Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement programs.
•       Ability to influence Global stakeholders and internal and external subject mater experts.
•       Excellent analytical and critical thinking, demonstrating ability to analyze and solve problems.
•       Autonomy, self-motivation and efficiency, with an appropriate sense of urgency in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
•       Experience managing complex projects, leading cross-cultural teams.
•       Strong verbal and written skills with ability to explain complex, challenging topics clear and persuasively at all levels of the organisation.

Travel

•       Requires travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
