Are you looking to drive strategic Lean transformations for the leader in the Medical Technology industry?  As a core member of the Focused Improvement Team representing Operational Excellence, you will have responsibility for the planning and execution of strategic Lean improvement projects across the network of Medtronic manufacturing plants around the globe. These objectives include specific operational performance targets as well as the development and coaching of Site Operational Excellence personnel to create a sustainable culture of continuous improvement while delivering business results.
This position will work closely with leadership across Sites/Platforms as well as within the Operational Excellence organization.  You will be at the forefront of Medtronic’s Mission to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health, and Extend Life by improving our capability to deliver life-saving products.
This role can be based in the US or Mexico, ideally near a Medtronic Manufacturing Plant.

A Day in the Life

•    Plans, performs, and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma) with a heavy focus on improvement and/or design of Manufacturing Lines/Cells (Quality, Cost and Services)
•    Coach and mentor site OpEx personnel on Lean Sigma Manufacturing tools and concepts to build capability within sites (I do/we do/you do)
•    Build and maintain a roadmap of projects and deliverables on a timeline with frequent refreshment to deliver programmatic savings.
•    Maps and analyzes complex Value Streams to identify improvement opportunities
•    Assists senior leaders and champions in selecting projects that align with business/functional goals and strategies which deliver quantifiable business results
•    Liaison with Zero Loss and Platform leader to identify critical project opportunities
•    Liaison with Training Curriculum owners to ensure alignment to best practices in Lean Manufacturing
•    Communicates team progress
•    Plans, performs and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma)
•    Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams
•    Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities
•    Collects data to identify root cause of problems
•    Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls
•    May deliver presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control
•    Performs cost and benefit analyses
•    Travel typically up to 50%, however varies based on initiatives ongoing

Must Haves

•    Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of business operations, plant manufacturing and/or engineering experience OR advanced degree and 3+ years of experience

Nice to Have

•    Certified Black Belt or greater/Master Black Belt
•    Solid implementation experience in Lean with value stream transformational experience
•    MBA/MS degree or other technical graduate degree
•    Proven track record of deploying Lean Manufacturing concepts in a variety of applications and/or industries
•    Able to link Continuous Improvement projects to business results
•    Strategic minded while having the ability to focus on the critical actions
•    Exceptional presentation skills with multiple levels of the organization
•    Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
•    Strong Project Management skills
•    Systematic problem solver (DMAIC thinking)
•    Highly influential and able to sell ideas and approaches
•    Exceptional coaching and mentoring competency
•    Able to influence change without direct authority
•    Strong analytical skills
•    Creates a sense of urgency to drive results
