We are looking for someone with Mediterranean cooking experience, who is hard-working, organised, creative and passionate about food.

In the preopening stages of the new café launch, you will be the only chef/cook and you need to be organised and efficient. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, punctual and be able to work unsupervised. You will also be able to work a flexible schedule including mornings, days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

The successful applicant:

• Must be enthusiastic about cooking and have experience cooking authentic Mediterranean food.
• Will have great food preparation, cooking, plating & presentation skills.
• Will have a good knowledge of food-display cabinet presentation skills.
• Be creative in developing a seasonally changing menu in keeping with the café concept and the target customers.
• Will assist with stock control and ordering to ensure par levels are appropriate & consistent.
• Will action any required kitchen maintenance and cleaning tasks.

• Will have high-quality standards and be able to work in a team environment. This is a hands-on role.
• Should be able to manage daily production planning & kitchen operations.
• Should have a working understanding of recipe costing and portion control. Food costs will be a component of your KPI’s.
• Must maintain a safe and hygienic working environment, including proper storage of food, equipment, utensils and equipment.
• Must follow food safety requirements and practice safe food handling.
• Must be professionally presented and have good personal hygiene standards.
• Must maintain great food quality at all times - authentic food is a must.

Applicants must possess:

• Minimum 4 years previous relevant experience
• Cert III or similar qualification
• An ability to work unsupervised and be a well organised and diligent person
• Be proactive, energetic and shares a passion for the hospitality industry, great food and presentation of food
• Possess effective communication skills (fluent written & verbal English is essential) - a team player in a small team
