Your challenge
As a department, our challenge is about inspiring and growing safety leaders within our business: how to engage with our customer centres and BU’s to create one global way of working and a proactive safety culture?
For this position, your challenge is flexibility. You are to facilitate HSE solutions for Vanderlande’s worldwide business by managing a range of improvement projects. You are responsible for maintaining momentum and keeping subject matter experts and teams engaged in driving improvement.
Your department
The Vanderlande corporate HSE department reports directly under the board. The department has a global responsibility for all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment and builds and maintains a global HSE network. With ‘Safe Base’ as one of our core values, hundreds of service operations contracts, 3 manufacturing sites, and over 250 significant site projects being executed simultaneously at any given moment, the HSE team is looking to take HSE to the next level.
Your position
As an HSE Project Manager, you are to support global and local HSE teams by managing and rolling out HSE improvement projects. These could be in the area of global HSE tooling & processes, database development, performance reporting, safety critical activities, training development and roll out, standards certification and stakeholder collaboration. You will also support a variety of global HSE activities.
Tasks and responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Translate the annual subject objectives into a project calendar, and form working groups on each subject to promote proactive dialogue with key stakeholders
• Produce project plans, chair meetings, lead workshops and ensure positive outcomes and practical application in a wide variety of locations
• Develop and drive roll-out programme on critical safety issues (training, tooling, processes and communications materials) in collaboration with local HSE managers / teams
• Act as main point of contact with the Process Information Manager and HSE Process Information Experts to ensure global HSE deliverables are clearly defined and communicated
• Manage online document portals to provide user friendly storage and access to global and local HSE documentation and standards
• Generate senior management reports and dashboards, and facilitate monitoring and feedback processes, as well as benchmarking activities
• Act as main global point of contact for serious site safety incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and global actions are followed up
• Undertake auditing and benchmarking reviews
Your main objectives for the first year
• HSE Database development in conjunction with key stakeholders, global HSE representatives and the IT team.
• Production of internal global HSE reports and HSE dashboard.
• Define and develop work at height training requirements in conjunction with local HSE managers and the Vanderlande Academy
Your profile
• Relevant degree on a Bachelor / Master level
• H&S Higher Management Qualifications e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, HVK etc
• Significant HSE management experience (5+ years) in a high-risk, multi-site, engineering or construction environment (or similar)
• Forward thinking approach, culturally aware and a clear passion for making a difference
• Experience with the organisation, development and implementation of user friendly management systems in a multi-site global environment and across cultures
• Integrated data collection, performance management and a structured process driven approach is strongly preferred
• Internal auditor or lead auditor training preferred
• Natural communicator at all levels with strong collaboration and influencing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, other languages are a plus
• Ability to successfully challenge status quo and align approach across a wide range of cultures
• Willingness to travel
