About the job*
As our new Junior Production Biologist your main purpose is to provide high quality care to the fish. It is your job to make sure that Dutch Yellowtail Kingfish grows in the best circumstances as possible within our high tech Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) Facility in Kats, Zeeland.
One of the most important aspects is maintaining the health and wellbeing of the fish. Providing care for our fish is key. Moreover maintaining and monitoring production systems plays a vital part.
Where will you work?*
You will be part of the Kingfish Zeeland Production Team. A team young and ambitious people with a shared passion for fish, sustainability and collaboration. You will join a team of 20+ people with different backgrounds, nationalities, ages and cultures. There’s a real work hard, play hard mentality. If you like cracking a joke here and there, you’ll fit right in.
Your tasks will be
Among many other things your tasks will consist of:
• Observing and reporting fish health and behavior
• Managing feed systems according to programming and rearing strategy
• Managing filtration systems
• Assisting with fish transfers and grading
• Maintaining Life Support Systems
• Identifying and reporting/repairing faults in pumps, plumbing, water flow and air supply.
• Ensuring and optimizing food safety
Naturally, you’ll make sure that all of this is done in a healthy and safe manner for both our animals and people within all the different departments within the organization.
You’ll be working in both day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts together with other colleagues from the production team. Your regular workdays start at 7.30 AM. When you’re harvesting you’ll start at 4.00 AM.
During your time we’ll make sure that you get all the tools you need to do your job as perfect as possible. We will also provide you with proper training done by experienced aquaculture professionals.
Who are you?
• You have a Bachelor or Master degree the field of Aquaculture
• You’re a real technical person and a real problem solver
• You’re physically fit and not afraid to get your hands dirty
• You have a flexible attitude, working irregular times is ‘part of the deal’
• You have a car and driving license.
