Job Duties:

The Business Improvement Team develops, manages and supports a number of major programmes designed to deliver business improvement and efficiency savings for the County Council and its partners.

The prime function of the Improvement Team is, working alongside the client or business, to enable and deliver change. The core discipline in the delivery of organisational improvement is project and programme management and use of other business improvement functions and techniques, which allows the team to offer a structured and rigorous approach to the definition, management and delivery of organisational benefits and the management of risk.

The purpose of this job will be to manage delivery of specific projects or support the delivery of elements within a larger programme, including ensuring there are strong business cases, robust governance and controls in place, and the identification and realisation of benefits.

Main Areas of Responsibility

This post is at Level 2 of the Improvement Team Career Scheme which defines expectations for responsibility, accountability and performance of members of the Improvement Team, with transparent criteria for progression.

• Lead projects as directed from beginning to end, across a range of environments, through effective decision making and delivering at pace.
• Provide general support to the programme and project managers and project sponsors as required
• Work with the team in responding to commission requests to ensure that any intervention commissioned has clearly defined outcomes and measures of success
• Ensure actions emanating from meetings are enacted, escalating issues as appropriate to ensure progress is made. Being prepared to take minutes if required
• Develop an ability to interpret data and present findings, identify issues and actions to resolve challenges
• Create, maintain and monitor project management tools and techniques, such as business cases, risk and issues logs, communication plans, and benefit realisation plans
• Develop commercial awareness in project delivery
