Shell partners with a EPCM contractors (Engineering Procurement Construction Management) for delivery of the EV CAPEX programme. As EV Project Engineering Manager you will be steering our EPCM partners to success and act as single point of contact for the management team and programme managers. You will be closely working together with Shell teams for business development and network planning to bring commercial opportunities to fruition.
What’s the role?
As EV Project Engineering Manager you will focus on sound contract management and establish the governance to oversee and steer our extended workforce. It is paramount that you take ownership and make sure our projects are managed and executed in a reliable way with sharp focus on costs and execution timelines.
In this leadership position you assure that our HSSE standards and our End-to-End project controls are in place and secured. For this you be trained as technical authority for EV and closely work together with global Engineering SME's for process-optimization, sharing best practices and conduct pilots with the newest EV technologies on the market.
More specifically, in this role you will be working on the following:
• Lead and drive HSSE mindset and compliance such as Goal Zero and Global Control Framework and active participation with the contractor community to build and sustain a strong safety culture.
• Deliver competitive projects and drive costs down through standardization, replication and value initiatives.
• Pro-actively drive the performance of the CAPEX project on EV program delivery through the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management Company (EPCM) to agreed outcomes, meeting HSSE standards, Global Design Standards, customer needs and Retail business objectives.
• Ensure a competent L2 organization is in place on management and programme level
• Risk assessment of programmes and projects and engage with contractors to mitigate foreseen and anticipated risks in the field.
• Drive continuous improvement in the market, share best practices with the Global teams and implement lessons learned on EV.
• Ensure sound technical design for EV through formal signoff of designs by Mobility Global Engineering as the local technical authority for Shell Engineering
• Develop and manage key stakeholder relationships with other Network functions including Network Planning, Real Estate, FMC and Soil & Ground Water, Sales & Ops, and other external third parties such as EV partnerships.
• Review with EPCM and approve the annual CAPEX plans and phasing of projects/programs prepared by EPCM including procurement strategies.
• Chair the weekly Operation meetings and participate in monthly Performance Review meetings and Quarterly Business reviews with EPCM team to review the project/program
What we need from you?
Beyond that, we’d want to hear from individuals who have the following:
• Language Level Dutch and English minimum B2 Upper-Intermediate
• Bachelor Degree qualification with engineering or other relevant technical background
• Good understanding of general electrical principles, mechanics and equipment. It’s an advantage to have tacit knowledge with NEN3140 and additionally NEN3480
• Passionate about HSSE and having practical experience of working with technical contractors and construction companies
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience in project and programme management in the construction or installation areas
• Based in the Shell Rotterdam office, but regularly working from home and doing frequent site-visits. Open to regular travel within The Netherlands and Belgium and occasionally to Luxembourg
• Some important features to have success in the job: strong skills in communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement. Accuracy and structured working are key. Solution-focused, staying positive while challenged and pragmatic with a strong drive to deliver while keeping safety as highest priority
