Job Purpose and Impact

The Food Safety and Quality Specialist will support facility team members with food safety and quality issues. This role is responsible for providing specialized knowledge of specific segments of our quality systems and/or plant processes such as food safety and quality auditing, lab management, specific product line knowledge, computer systems, and other needed focus areas.

You will be involved in preparation and participation of internal and external audits. You will work together with internal and external teams to address customer requirements and concerns, as well as collaborate on audits.

Key Accountabilities

• Audits production processes to ensure that established food safety and quality standards are met.
• Works closely with cross functional teams, including product management and production, to identify and mitigate food safety and quality risks.
• Conducts root cause analysis for defects, nonconformities or other food safety and quality failures.
• Ensures compliance with formal external and internal quality standards.

• Provides management of food safety and quality management systems and provide continuous improvement support for operations or other functional areas where needed.
• Investigates and responds to customer complaints and provide guidance.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while collaborating with facility leaders on more complex issues.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of two years of related work experience
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to translate and communicate analytical data and technical knowledge to technical and non-technical, internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines
• Experience with food manufacturing environments
• Flexibility: able to cope with fast changes within a growing company
• Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in conducting food safety audits
• Laboratory knowledge, including Good Laboratory Practice and instrumentation.
