Driving Operational excellence by Improving Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) performance in the respective organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on Quality, Environment and Employee Wellbeing. Support the business by applying in-depth QHSE knowledge to offer strategic solutions and advice. Ensure effective risk management through QHSE excellence along ABB’s value chain. Maintain Business certification as required ISO/BSI etc and assure the effective implementation, maturity assessment along the entire value chain to improve customer satisfaction and increase profitability in a safe working environment across the local business.

Your responsibilities

Reports HSE incidents. Feeds back on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across ABB to management and employees. Reports on HSE performance and progress on implementation of ABB Group Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ABB Group, as required.
Defines and develops Quality Strategies in line with ABB and external requirements, and supports their local adoption and deployment to improve the Quality standards and support operational improvement across the entire value chain.
Works with the local management team to set coherent and aligned QHSE priorities and targets across the entire value chain, monitor progress, analyse QHSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and act on deviations from targets.
Deploys the standard quality improvement approach (i.e. 4Q) within all areas of the local organization to continuously improve business practices and performance.
Ensures the local organization has an effective management system that addresses Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing practices within the operation.
Implements policies and standards. Ensures area of responsibility is audited according to program for audit. Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local QHSE legislation and external requirements and ABB Group policy, instructions and standards. Supports compliance with human rights, security and crisis management processes.
Facilitates QHSE risks assessment/audit by line management involving shop floor employees, i.e. those directly concerned by the hazards and processes, and ensures all processes are implemented.
Drives behavioural change through implementing Group-wide performance improvement programs and practices locally to ensure an exemplary Quality, health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment and wellbeing throughout the respective organization.
Engages external (e.g. customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on ABB's QHSE efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback. Cooperates with other functions and business partners to drive performance.
Ensures appropriate QHSE equipment and tools are available and used. Identifies, plans and initiates training needs, e.g. for employees, contractors, site managers, and ensures compliance with Group management systems.
Develops and executes Quality, Health (and/or) Safety (and/or) Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.

Your background

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience
NEBOSH General Certificate
Quality/Continuous Improvement experience within a complex, matrix organisation
Quality/Continuous Improvement qualification would be desirable
5+ years of experience as a professional QHSE Manager. Demonstrable leadership capabilities with a team oriented attitude and collaboration mind-set.
Experience of working within a fast paced production, warehousing, administrative and service environment.- Desirable
