Permanent, full time

Selby
Hybrid working

As Senior Project Controls Manager at Drax, you’ll support our aims to become a global leader in negative emissions and a UK leader in dispatchable renewable power.
It’s an opportunity to work on innovative technology projects including the largest post-combustion carbon capture plant in the world and the UK’s first new pumped storage hydropower station for 38 years.
You’ll be responsible for managing the co-ordination of engineering governance through design, delivery and execution of large scale, complex projects from FEED study developments through to construction.
This is a permanent role which is predominately based at our office in Selby, with the opportunity to work from home a few days a week. There’ll be a requirement to travel to other sites as and when needed.

About the role

Providing strong guidance, you’ll indirectly lead and co-ordinate a multi-skilled and multi-disciplined team. Working closely and collaboratively with Technical Managers and Engineers, you’ll lead projects from engineering design, including managing and leading the safety, scope, budget and schedule for each assigned project.
You’ll also be expected to manage the risk, governance and processes to support the delivery of each project on budget and where possible ahead of schedule.
You’ll support the execution team through governance and programme management and coordinate with our Commercial team on contractual matters. And you’ll also be involved with the negotiation of engineering, vendor supply equipment and construction contracts.

Drawing on previous experience, you’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with permits and consents from local and national bodies. You’ll work closely with the Business Development Lead to submit applications – always ensuring that the right permits are in place.

About you

You’ll have extensive, relevant experience within the Engineering and/ or Construction industries.
This will ideally have involved leading major engineering design/ installation projects.
You’ll demonstrate a proven track record delivering complex projects (circa £20m+), in budget and ahead of schedule.
With highly developed influencing and negotiation skills, you’ll have the ability to communicate at all levels across the organisation.
