Job Description

The QHSE Co-Op Student position is a multifunctional position. The Co-Op Student will play an integral part of the Acciona Infrastructure North America (AINA)’s Quality, Health, and Safety, Environment & Sustainability team. In addition to having engineering qualifications the holder of this position must exhibit comprehension of general quality assurance and health & safety responsibilities.

Under the direct reporting to the AINA Corporate Director of Quality, Environmental and Sustainability and the Director of Health & Safety, the Co-Op Student will be able to providing support to other business groups.

Co-Op Job Learning Outcomes

-Assist in the planning and performing workplace inspections and audits for compliance with occupational health and safety, quality and environmental legislation.
-Assist in developing and evaluating safety management system (SMS) for Corporate Team.
-Assist in developing and evaluating environmental management system (EMS) for Corporate Team.
-Assist in developing and evaluating quality management system (
QMS) for Corporate Team.
-Assist in developing and evaluating Sustainability framework for Corporate Team.
-Develop and propose recommendations to address audit findings and verify compliance.
-Prepare investigative briefs and other documents for the prosecution of infractions of occupational safety and environmental legislation.
-Inspect facilities for possible contraventions of health, safety and environmental legislation and prepare control documents to resolve identified issues.
-Develop a share folder flow plan.
-Assist with content, statistics and graphic for safety management system, Q&E management systems.
-Support development of training material related to QHSE.
-Process mapping.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
-Ability to deal with sensitive issues with tact.
-Ability to be assertive when required.
-A good understanding of industrial processes, human resources, environmental studies or similar fields.
-Interest in understanding how law is written and applied Carrying out Project investigations, collecting, processing, and evaluating the on-site data, processing and interpretation of chemical, geographical, and geological data for preparing environmental reports and work plans accordingly.
-Ability to work with applications which support QHSE management (e.g. Visio, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, documents and records databases, etc. AutoCAD and BIM would be asset).
