Job Overview:
General Description includes managing all or part of the engineering scope of a McDermott project. The Project Engineering Manager provides direction and coordinates the Engineering and Design Leads on an assigned project. Is responsible for the execution of engineering deliverables including the engineering schedule, budget, document controls and manpower staffing. Establishes project procedures to ensure deliverables meet client and established engineering and project requirements. Identifies problems and coordinates with the engineering team to correct. Maintains and promotes a focus on McDermott’s end-product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Ensures effective communications among engineering disciplines. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control of engineering scope. Reviews work with client, management and project leads. Reports to the Project Manager and functionally to the Project Engineering Department Manager.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Responsible and accountable for management; financial and technical success of all phases of the Engineering portion of a small to medium size onshore project, or part of a large onshore project
-Responsible for ensuring the Engineering portion of the project is administered and executed to the satisfaction of the -Customer, meets the contract’s scope, schedule and quality requirements, meets KPI requirements, and the work is performed within budget, in accordance with the highest ethical and safety standards and compliant with MDR policies and procedures.
-Collaborate with Engineering Discipline Leads and Engineering Functional Managers to achieve lowest cost technical solutions.
-Use discipline and project management expertise to identify and solve a range of project problems/issues between functional groups
-Manage project personnel to achieve project objectives.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
-Minimum 20 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry
-Minimum 5 yrs of detail project engineering experience and 3 years as Project Engineering Manager experience of onshore projects execution.
-Graduate of Bachelor Degree in an Engineering discipline
-Must have knowledge in EPC project Management and execution, Project Controls, and Cost Estimate.
-General multi-discipline knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods, and general knowledge of the theory, content and application of statutory codes and guidelines as applicable for onshore projects.
-Knowledgeable of project execution and managerial skills.
-Broad technical knowledge of all disciplines and the work processes to allow understanding and analysis of the work and its problems.
-Broad understanding of the project IT requirements
-Project interdisciplinary coordination experience in Engineering portions of EPCI projects
-Should have good communication skills and experience in coordinating a multi-cultural engineering team
-Shall have demonstrated the ability to coordinate with multi-discipline Engineering teams, Procurement, Fabrication, Quality, and the Customer
-Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society
-Fluent in the English language (writing and speech)
