PGF is currently seeking a pro-active, hands on professional to join our team as Manager, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). Responsible for leading, managing and directing the organization’s health, safety & environmental initiatives, this individual will ensure that all business operations are in compliance with company policy and safe work legislation. The successful candidate will act as an organizational resource to all Health & Safety committees and provide leadership and guidance ensuring compliance. This role requires an excellent multi-tasker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Review the current HSE programs, policies and practices, making recommendations and implementing on-going improvements
• Provide direction for the application of all current legislative requirements and future changes to ensure implementation and compliance
• Manage and provide reports on activities and safety metrics to senior management and the board as required
• Identify training requirements by location and coordinate &/or deliver training as required
• Manage emergency response planning
• Conduct safety audits and facility inspections
• Act as the on-site lead in major accident investigations
• Manage all Worker Compensation and Disability Claims and develop RTW plans
• Point of contact for head office maintenance inquiries and requests
• Other duties as requested

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Part II of the Canada Labour Code and how it applies to the agricultural, food processing and trucking sectors
• Post-secondary education directly related to occupational health and safety, or commitment to obtain certification from a recognized Canadian Institution within 3 years
• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or commitment to obtaining within 2 years of hire
• Ability and confidence to take initiative and make decisions with limited supervision
• Good abilities to understand complex mechanical and technical systems
• Excellent risk management, incident investigation and root-cause analysis skills
• Ability to manage many projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
• Good communication and computer skills
• Ability to travel to all work locations as required
• Demonstrated, progressively responsible experience in an industrial setting
• Experience in developing and/or implementing health, safety and environmental programs in multi-site locations preferred
• Previous experience in the grain &/or construction industry considered an asset
• Trades certification at journeyman level with supervisory experience is an asset
