The Opportunity
This exciting opportunity to join our well established service at Busy Bees at Oxley is one not to be missed, we are looking for a professional who is wanting a work life balance, loves cooking and planning meals and of course would love to provide the meals for the children.
As a Cook/Chef, you will be passionate about preparing fresh and wholesome meals for children, have worked as a cook planning budgets and worked with allergies and intolerances.
You will naturally maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements. You will be reliable, positive and well organised. You will enjoy working with families and children.
The hours are between 7am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. So if you want to remain in hospitality but no longer want to work unsocial hours - this is the role for you.
Your experience
• Experience and passion for cooking a wide variety of nutritious foods suitable for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old;
• Experience in development of a rotating menu, including catering for allergies and intolerances;
• Certificate in Commercial Cookery (desirable but not essential)
• Food Handling Safety Certificate;
• National Police Clearance Certificate or ability to obtain
• Current Working with Children Card or ability to obtain
• Experience working in a Childcare kitchen is an advantage.
A day in the life of a Cook at one of our services will look like;
• Engage in collaborative and partnership based relationships with Service Managers, educators, team members and family's requirements regarding menu planning and meal preparation and prompt resolution of issues.
• Lead by example, demonstrating FEL's values of Care and Respect, Innovation and Professionalism in the workplace at all
• Openly communicate with the Nominated Supervisor and team members, and report any challenges as soon as practicable
• Engaging with key stakeholders for the purpose of menu planning and implementation
• Ensure that all duties are performed at a high professional standard
• Display service menus as per FEL guidelines
• Ensure that any special dietary requirements of the children are respected and followed
• Order and arrange delivery of ingredients and products weekly as per the FEL menu guidelines, and ensure that food is fresh and temperature records are kept
• Utilise and adhere to the food safety plans of the service
• Prepare nutritional food according to dietary requirements and FEL menu plan
• Awareness of allergy requirements within the service
• Maintain up to date records in accordance with food safety plans
• Assist team members to serve and pack away after meals as required
• Clean kitchen daily and follow a cleaning routine for all appliances/areas of the kitchen
• Liaise with Nutrition Australia
• Engaging with the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
