Job Duties

• Directly assists Plant Manager in the responsibility of the department Safety Program. Ensures all divisional and plant safety rules and requirements are met and is expected to be a leader for safety program implementation. Works with department management to ensure all necessary safety training is updated, complete, and documented.

A key member of the management team working with supervisors, leaders, and team members to ensure the safety of all individuals in the department.
• Responsible for programs and techniques to enhance safety awareness and maintain employee motivation in regards to safety.

Maintains familiarity with current state and federal environmental compliance and OSHA regulations applicable to the department.
• Maintains necessary documentation on safety related items involving historical data, training of employees and other safety related items.
• Acts as chairperson of the department Safety Committee. Ensures active involvement of the Safety Committee throughout the department. Conducts monthly safety audits and compiles audit results and tracks safety indexes.

• Conducts weekly Safety Meeting.
• Leads monthly Safety Meeting.
• Assists with the development and review of all department safety rules, and takes the leadership role in the development of JSA’s, and HECP’s.
• Assists with the development and conducts safety related training for employees in the department. Responsible for the safety orientation of new employees.

Assist with the investigation of all injuries, first aids, and close calls. Make appropriate recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Performs similar, related admin duties as assigned.
