There you were, at the airport with just a backpack and a ticket: all set for a new adventure. Friends were surprised that you hadn't arranged anything else: no transport, no hotel, nothing. But for you, it's just normal. You don't like having everything already planned and you know exactly what you are going to do. No, you're curious about the unknown and want to discover new things. When you read the vacancy of Project Manager R&D, you immediately knew: this is your job! Together with colleagues, you explore future issues. You research new technical concepts and assess whether they are feasible for Huhtamaki Fiber Technology.

This allows you to quickly respond to the customer's needs. You have a clear vision of sustainable packaging and the associated machine lines: this is the future. Every project feels like a new adventure to you and you are challenged on a technical level every day. It makes you proud when, thanks to your research, you can directly respond to the needs of the customer. That's why you do it. Just like for that sustainable future, on which your 'discoveries' have a direct impact.

Let us introduce ourselves:

We are Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, the international R&D centre and machine line developer of the major packaging group Huhtamaki. With passion, we develop machine lines that make it possible to produce sustainable packaging for, among others, the food industry. We have a modern test centre, a pilot plant and various other departments under one roof. And it's all about innovation, sustainable innovation! Not only because our customers and end users from the global retail market demand it every day, but also because we ourselves strive for a world with sustainable packaging materials. A good example is our Fresh project, in which we developed fully compostable packaging for ready-to-eat meals. And the best thing is: this packaging results in 82% less CO2 emissions and no plastic waste. Making a difference, that is what we are proud of!

Who are we looking for?

Because our organisation is developing rapidly and we continue to grow, we are looking for a Project Manager R&D within our Technology Development Team. Someone who, together with colleagues, heads for the unknown and can translate this into concrete solutions. You find energy in turning new ideas into something concrete and you know how to involve your colleagues in the right way. You work on the latest innovations in the field of product development, and especially on the associated machine lines. Within the Innovation Department you can certainly see the dot on the horizon, but the road towards it is a joint voyage of discovery. You are curious and gain energy from the unknown. You listen to the needs of the customer and help them think in terms of innovative solutions.

As Project Manager R&D:

• You are an important technical link within our organisation. In this role, you will be 70% project manager and 30% innovative techie. In addition, you are a valuable consultation partner for your team.
• You are active within project teams; together you prepare for the future at the customer. Based on the strategic roadmap, you hear what the needs are.
• You maintain an overview of the innovative internal projects and are the contact person for external co-development partners.
• You help determine the scope of a project: how complex is the project, what is in store for you and what structure do you want to build so that it becomes clear to the entire organisation.

We are of course primarily looking for a Project Manager R&D who fits in perfectly with us in terms of character, motivation and vision. In addition,

our ideal candidate is likely:

• A communicative techie with a completed higher vocational or technical university education in ME/Mechatronics and at least 3 years of experience as a Project Manager.
• Someone with experience in, for example, the machine building or packaging industry.
• Someone who is flexible and curious. You always think in solutions; 'no' is not an option for you.
• Someone who makes a substantial contribution to the development of our organisation, both as part of a team and individually.
• An inquisitive techie who enjoys staying on top of the latest trends and developments. You want to know what is going on with the customer and what the client needs.

Do you recognise yourself in the points above? Then you might just be our new Project Manager R&D.

Factory lines for the future

You report to the Technical Development Manager. You actively collaborate with fellow Project Managers and the Innovation Engineer, he/she is your technical conscience. Innovation is your number one priority. You keep an active eye on the market and are able to anticipate what is coming for your customers. Huhtamaki Fiber Technology is a matrix organisation, which means that employees from different disciplines work together in project teams. Within the department, you have a clear goal for the future: from customer driven to technology driven. In other words: to always be one step ahead of the customer and to create factory lines for the future.

You look at the possibilities of new sustainable packaging: what is the packaging going to look like, how are we going to make it, which packaging is interesting and what requirements does the packaging have to meet?
• You consult regularly on future projects. Together with your colleagues, you think about new sustainable solutions and work on future building blocks.
• You are in close contact with the various departments within the organisation, because you want to know what is going on and what people are doing.
