Clearwater Seafoods' Quality Assurance department requires a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Coordinator for its Fleet Operations. The position is a Full Time position and will be located in Lunenburg, NS.
Purpose of Position:
The Food Safety & Quality Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager for all aspects of our QMP/HACCP programs for each of our CFIA certified factory vessels, live lobster vessel, and fresh sea scallop vessels to ensure our programs meet the requirements of our internal policies, customer expectation, as well as regulatory and statutory requirements. In addition also providing measurable support for our production and OHS managers and their directives.
Reporting Structure:
This individual will report to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager - Fleet Operations.
Working Conditions:
• Location: Fleet Office - Lunenburg, NS
• Travel: 20-30% sea time on various vessels
• Environment: Office environment / at sea on various vessels
Major Responsibilities:
• Management maintain, review, up date, amendment, training, confirmation of comprehension, log, document and verification of our Food Safety / Quality Assurance / QMP-HACCP programs.
• Review of the daily Quality reports from our Clam vessels, and Sea Scallop vessels. Direct communication with the fleet QC personnel to verify compliance with the product and process specifications. Internally reacting to and providing support for non-compliance, root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventative measures to prevent a reoccurrence, verification that the action is effective and viable.
• Working directly with the species / vessel Operational Manager, on board Vessel Managers, QC Managers, Factory Managers, Production Supervisors to ensure fleet enterprise compliance to our programs and policies.
• Provide QA/QC Species summary reports for each landing to the appropriate personal to ensure a solid line of communication from our vessels to our internal and external customers. Act to eliminate the gaps and improve the existing process flow and so that we have the opportunity to review and trend the information not be consumed data entry
• Work closely with the vessel team production, QC team and Harvest Science team and amend our current multifaceted data collection format towards a more cost effective, user friendly program that provides the answers we need.
• Provide an effective communication link between our vessel QC - Fleet QA/QC - Land Based QA and as required directly to customers QA/QC request.

Qualifications:
• Offshore sea experience preferable
• Food Safety/QMP/HACCP Training an asset
• Knowledge of harvesting and/or processing methodologies in a food production facility an asset
• Supervisory experience in Food Processing / Food Safety-Quality environment an asset.
• Diploma in Food Technology, Food Safety, Quality Assurance or related Food Science background an asset
• Valid Driver's License & Passport and is willing and able to travel inter-provincially & internationally as required.
• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication abilities, Computer Skills, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Document management and control.
• Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and tolerate vessel & shore-based production facilities with a wet or damp environment.
• Exceptional verbal and written skills required for communication, training, internal and external presentations.
• Understanding of Advanced Food Safety & Quality Concepts.
• Knowledge of CFIA, FDA/FSMA, USDA, Codex Alimentarius, Microbial Pathogens and Regulatory Requirements
