Job Overview:
General Description includes utilizing design system for the production of basic piping design deliverables. Generates bulk material take offs for piping materials. Maintains and promotes a focus on McDermott’s end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Effectively communicates with other engineering disciplines. Ensures effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Is responsible to become knowledgeable of all relevant work processes, tools and instructions, and to apply them on the projects
• Independently develops piping studies of all pipitopng within a designated area (incl. revamp work) with the use of plot plans, Piping & Instrument Diagrams, equipment data sheets, etc., in accordance with instructions, specifications, and standards. He/she should take into account: expansion and supporting requirements, the allocated materials in the bulk MTO, HSE requirements, operational and maintenance requirements, ergonomics, etc. as well as cost and schedule.
• The complexity of the area must be in line with the designer’s experience.
• Determines platform and structure requirements and layouts, to accommodate the related piping, equipment and other relevant installations.
• Assesses the layout of equipment with respect to process, maintenance, operations, constructability and cost, and determines the location & orientation of connections on static equipment.
• As a plotplan designer, independently develops relatively simple plotplans, in accordance with instructions, specifications, standards, HSE requirements, economics, ergonomics, constructability, operational and maintenance requirements, etc. under the supervision of a senior plotplan designer.
• Checks isometrics on the basis of the applicable isometric checking procedures, ensuring good quality of work.
• Updates the isometric control system with relevant information.
• Independently generates isometrics, piping plan drawings, etc., in accordance with the procedures and execution plans.
• Assists the MTO engineer in preparing the piping bulk MTO by estimating pipe-lengths, nr. of elbows, defining line- and area breaks, etc.
• Supports the Piping Material Take-off by communicating deviations to the bulk MTO and timely incorporating design or material changes as required.
• Operates the 3D Model review system including setting out animation paths when required.
• Supports and guides the less experienced piping design team members.
• Checks interface drawings with other disciplines
• Evaluates and checks the work performed by other Piping Designers (e.g. layout studies, deliverables) for constructability, ergonomics, economics, maintenance requirements, compliance to project instructions, etc.
• When required, must take on assignments which fall under the aforementioned tasks.
• Accepts tasks of a lower level position when applicable and, in consultation with his/her superior, certain tasks of a higher level.
• Shows flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:
o The reassignment to other projects.
o The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays.
o The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workload (also other projects) when possible/desirable.
o The managing/learning of current future working methods and software applications

Preferred Qualifications and Education:
• Degree in Engineering or relevant experience in Piping design
