AMBITION
The mission for the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) is simple; improve food production and make it safer. As a knowledge authority they provide a platform on which advice and guidelines are available to promote hygiene during the production, processing and packaging of food. In addition to papers, knowledge is shared through training, seminars and events. Securing and sharing knowledge between the members is therefore key. EHEDG wants to have a positive impact on the world around us.
ASSIGNMENT
As Director Operations you are part of the EHEDG Office and you have a central role in the organization. EHEDG is currently based in Frankfurt (Germany) but will move to Naarden (The Netherlands). You play a key part in this move. In Naarden, the organization will have to be rebuilt. It is your assignment to make this transition run smoothly and to lay a good foundation for the further growth of EHEDG.
Year 1: Your mission is to ensure a smooth transition from Frankfurt to Naarden. This actually means you have the opportunity to redesign the organization. Your focus will be on the people involved and securing the transfer of knowledge.
Year 2: a solid organizational foundation has been laid. The organization can grow. This means growing in member count, guidelines, training and certifications.
Long term: this is not a 2-year job. With the growth of EHEDG you increase the impact of EHEDG and food safety in the food industry!

Your approach?
We are looking for an organizer. Someone with team spirit. A relationship builder who takes care of the foundation of the organization. And who further develops this with the help of the volunteers of the EHEDG Foundation.

In this new role of Director Operations, you are responsible for establishing EHEDG in the Netherlands. It is your job to realize a smooth transition. You largely put together the team and ensure further development and professionalization of the organization!
Given the international nature of the EHEDG organization, regular international travel is involved (approx. 25%). To visit relations, to consult with the Board and (sub) committees, to attend events and to attract new members to EHEDG. You manage a small team of employees, coordinate the work and have contacts with consultants, suppliers and volunteers. Given the size of the organization, your position can be characterized as operational and hands-on. You report to the EHEDG Foundation Board.
What do you bring?
• Bachelor Degree, i.e. Mechanical Engineering or Food Technology
• Relevant experience in food- or beverage industry, preferably international
• Demonstrable organizational skills
• Managerial Experience, people-manager
• Excellent command in English, in speech and writing
• Willingness to travel internationally approx. 25% and to relocate to The Netherlands
Where are you going to do that?
The European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) was founded in 1989 as a non-profit foundation, comprising of equipment manufacturers, food producers, suppliers to the food industry, research institutes and universities. The mission of EHEDG is to raise awareness of hygienic engineering, develop guidance and solutions, and provide a platform to promote EHEDG expertise that facilitates networking between hygienic engineering experts from around the world. The organization has over the years grown to 600 member companies and institutes, and 300 individual members from around the world. EHEDG is currently located in Frankfurt (Germany) and will move in autumn 2020 to Naarden in the Netherlands.
