Position: Project Accountant

Reports directly to: Head of Finance
Reports indirectly to: Head of Commercial

Purpose of the Role:

The Project Accountant will work closely with the Head of Commercial and wider Signaling and Telecoms (S&T) team to record, report and analyse project costs and to produce all required reporting for the S&T framework.

The role will initially be undertaken on a fixed term basis but may be extended depending on project volumes on an ongoing basis.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability:
• Budgets and forecasts: Preparation of all necessary budgets and forecasts, including weekly cash flow forecasts and monthly profitability forecasts.
• Management accounts: Production of monthly management accounts, preparation of cost value reconciliations, preparation of journals, variance analysis.
• Group reporting: Preparation of all group reporting on a monthly basis.
• KPI reporting: Develop, implement, and continue to produce a comprehensive suite of KPI reporting.
• Cost control: Review and control project costs, clearly identifying potential issues versus project budgets for further investigation and action.
• Project planning: Assist Commercial management in the preparation of project targets and forecasts.
• Audit: Liaise with the external and client audit teams to resolve audit queries quickly and effectively.
• Ad hoc projects; Provide support for any ad hoc requests for reporting, process development or projects as defined by the Head of Finance and Head of Commercial.

Person Specification:

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills. Able to explain complex financial issues to non-finance colleagues.
• Solid understanding of financial controls and best practices.
• The ability to produce insightful analysis from complex data.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office ¿ particularly excel and powerpoint.
