Location: Office based in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire (Circa 3 days a week & circa 2 days WFH)

My client is an industry leading manufacturer and distributor of Life Science laboratory equipment and consumables, with a product portfolio that supports almost all scientific research applications to include Cell Research & Sterilisation.

Day-to-Day of the role:

Quality Management:

*Develop and implement quality management strategy, including resources, systems, timescales, to support, contribute to, and integrate within, the organisation’s strategic plan
*Review, maintain, sign & issue Quality Policy as agreed with Head of Operations
*Develop and maintain systems to measure performance against established standards
*Monitor performance (in relevant areas) according to agreed standards and take necessary action to communicate/advise/assist according to performance levels
*Monitor and inform/communicate/apply standards created/maintained by external bodies and integrate within internal quality management systems
*Arrange and document management reviews with Senior Management to establish risk and opportunities for each department within the business
*Report findings of senior management reviews back to Head of Operations
*Arrange and document management reviews with the EMEA Management Team (EMT)
*Establish and implement necessary communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues across all departments
*Report as necessary on changes in standards (internally and externally initiated) and on performance against standards
*Liaise and co-operate with quality management and standards bodies (e.g., BSI, UKAS etc)
*Liaise with customers and suppliers where necessary (where impacting/affected by quality issues)
*Approved signatory for company's UKAS17025:2017 calibration certificates
*Quality sign off for work instructions & reviews
*Review budget of uncertainty in results with the Head of Operations
*Close liaison with the Product Specialist (Sterilisation) regarding results for UKAS calibration
*Updates of UKAS technical documents (TPS and LAB)
*Handle all customer appeals and complaints on behalf of the company
*Line Manager responsibilities for direct reports in line with company policies

HSE Management:

*Providing timely and accurate information and advice on Health & Safety issues and act as the ‘competent' person in liaison with external bodies under the requirements of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
*Ensure company health & safety policy is current & agreed with Managing Director
*Ensure H&S at work standards are being upheld within Head Office & on site
*Carry out annual H&S Audit for the company & report findings & recommendations to the Head of Operations
*Maintain H&S records for RIDDOR and RAMS
*Ensure appropriate PPE is available for all staff at all times
*Health & Safety file, work instructions, risk assessments, drawings, and manuals to be prepared within the agreed time scale
*Ensure company environmental policy is current & agreed with EMT
*Maintain records around environmental impacts of work completed
*Respond to customer queries around the HSE policies and activities completed by the company
*Ensure compliance with regional legislation for HSE
*Promote positive H&S Culture and set a personal example

Required Skills and Qualifications:

*Several years' experience in a similar role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
*Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
*Current knowledge of Health and Safety legislations with experience of creating and undertaking risk assessments.
*H&S qualification (eg. NEBOSH) is desirable
*Experience of managing an ISO 9001 compliant QMS System
*Experience working to ISO 17025:2005 or ISO17025:2017 standards is essential
*Experience of managing direct reports
*Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy with ability to work to tight deadlines.
*Negotiation and Influencing Skills
*Problem Solving skills; Analytical thinking
*Strong Leadership skills
*IT literate - able to use MS Office tools
*Experience within the Animal Laboratory Research, Healthcare or Life sciences markets is beneficial
