The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Grains Biosecurity Officer to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the delivery of the national Grains Biosecurity Program. The role is responsible for the delivery of South Australian milestones to address the biosecurity needs of the grains industry in South Australia. To this end, the Grains Biosecurity Officer delivers activities under three strategic pillars: Surveillance Coordination and Facilitation, Managing Farm Biosecurity Risks and Industry Preparedness, with an overall outcome of grain growers and advisers benefiting from improved preparedness for, and post border management of, biosecurity risks in the grain industry.

The role contributes delivering the agency’s priorities by delivering Biosecurity SA priorities to underpin market access and farm productivity, and maintain disease freedom and control, contributing to the success of South Australia’s economic priority — Premium Food and Wine Produced in our Clean Environment and Exported to the World. Biosecurity SA supports South Australia’s agriculture, food and wine industries to grow and innovate with a focus on creating jobs and increasing exports.

Requirements

-Contract up to 30/06/2023
-Essential Qualifications: A degree in Agricultural Science, Science or equivalent.
-Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive
-Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required
-You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations.

Remuneration

PO2 - $83,152 to $92,020 pa.
