We collaborate with others to take on healthcare's greatest challenges.....At Medtronic, we are now recruiting for a Continuous Improvement (CI) & Innovation Director, Global Finance Office to join a highly professional, inclusive, committed, enthustiastic & collaborative team. The purpose of this role is to embed a continuous improvement, innovative and learning culture, that gets everybody engaged every day in providing innovative and impactful contributions to further the Medtronic Mission, across Global Finance Operations organization and ultimately to the entire Finance function. Due to the global nature of the role & collaboration with customers & third parties the position will preferably be based in the Netherlands or Czech Republic.

The strategy to accomplish this is 3 fold:

1. Institutionalize continuous improvement/innovative culture across all value streams part of GFO (incl. external service providers)

2. Align everyone to strategic priorities and to execute with discipline by enabling people to act like owners of their part of the business

3. Enabling a learning culture in th eorgansiation where people are intrinsically and extrinsically motivated and fully supported to develop and learn to meet the evolving capabilities

In order to achieve the above and to deal with our rapidly changing environment, it is crucial to increase our global capabilities and continuously transform ourselves. This will include organizing and aligning our management systems, digitalization roadmap, change management framework, training curriculum and our day to day working environment (aka workflow systems).

A Day in the Life

• Empower Global Teams (Bogota, Shanghai, Heerlen and Prague) to support the operating teams in solving issues as part of their daily job (everybody every day) in order to improve value we provide to our customers (increase customer centricity)
• Develop, direct, embed and execute business process excellence and process improvement initiatives utilizing such as LEAN/Agile etc. philosophies and methodologies, including Scrum, process mapping, design thinking and process design
• Align the organization with the strategy through Strategy Deployment
• Manage transformational programs in close collaboration with the Global Process Owners, Global RTR Process Improvement team and other key stakeholders
• Create a learning organization by ensuring availability of relevant L&D programs meeting evolving development needs of our workforce
• Help to achieve organizational goals while looking for effective ways to communicate, utilizing innovative tools and experimenting with new channels aligned with Medtronic standards

The Main Duties of the role will include:

•Manage hiring, development, and operational oversight of the global team which will consist of Continuous Improvement & Innovation, Learning & Development, Communication & Change Management and Project Management team members
• Encourage, inspire and motivate the team of the 5 direct reports and those reporting through matrix relationship, and through them, to further innovate and create change that will help grow and shape the future success of our Finance function by means of increasing efficiency and effectiveness
• Support to build global capacity for adopting and implementing the process excellence standards and related skill sets needed to successfully meet evolving business needs
• Manage and facilitate projects
• Establish and keep close contact with different functions (work through the matrix)
• Act as a change agent by applying change management tools
• Provide coaching to the organization at all levels and support on initiatives
• 20%-30% international travel where the successful applicant will travel to various international locations in order to further build working relationships. It will be dependent on Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Must Haves

•Bachelor/Master Degree
• Consistent and extensive application of continuous process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Scrum or equivalent
• Strong and demonstrable project management skills: planning & coordinating, communicating & influencing; achieving milestones, resolving issues and managing risks
•Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience/project head
• Business process excellence certified
• Ability to direct/support multiple projects simultaneously
• Innovative (i.e. not accepting status quo) and ability to think “outside of the box”
• Passionate about and energized by cultural change and process improvements
• Able to inspire/motivate people at all levels of the organization
• Strong coaching- and facilitation skills
• Customer focused
• Professional and interpersonal skills
