Reporting to the President, the Special Advisor International (SAI), is the Senior International Officer. The SAI oversees and provides strategic leadership for global engagement and leads the development of the university’s internationalization strategy.

The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $64,970 - $73,124 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

Performance range: starting salary to max of $85,269 is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the SAI, the Project Coordinator provides confidential strategic support, special initiative and project coordination, communications coordination, administrative coordination, and research and writing support.

The Project Coordinator actively supports the SAI and provides leadership and coordination to ensure that high quality and appropriate preparations are in place for all the SAI’s projects/activities.

This includes special initiatives, engagements, and meetings, including planning activities, communications, and analytical and research support. The Project Coordinator with stakeholders internally and externally, and supports new and ongoing strategic initiatives within International, and organization-wide activities where the SAI has responsibility. Specific focus will be assisting the SAI in implementing the new Global Strategy and in establishing the programs of CIFAL.

Job Requirements

This position requires an undergraduate degree in a related filed plus minimum 3 years’ experience in project management and implementation.

Experience:
-Managing projects from start to finish
-Developing reports for obtaining critical data and establishing and evaluating metrics-
-Working on strategic initiatives/projects, preferably within a higher education or a related field, including:
-Situations involving confidential, complex and/or sensitive issues
-Researching, drafting/creating high-level professional business documents, correspondence, and communications for a variety of audiences
-Data analysis
-An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Requirements include knowledge of:

-Project management best practices
-Understanding of secondary and post-secondary education systems in Canada including
Skill requirements:

-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and positively with senior executive from within and outside the institution, faculty, staff, community members and stakeholder organizations
-Anticipates challenges and develops effective course of action to address emergent issues as they arise
-Strong independent research and analytical skills and the ability to analyze situations and adapt effective courses of action
-Ability to work independently, with limited direction and supervision
-Demonstrated ability to be thorough, accurate and have a high-level of attention to detail
-Ability to effectively manage or coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and conflicting priorities efficiently and under pressure
-Make sound and well-researched recommendations on a variety of issues
-Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
-Proven track record achieving project goals on time and produce deliverables of a high quality
-Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills

Assets or Preferences:

-Deadlines may arise suddenly and with a short lead-time. Areas of responsibility are very broad and there is a constant need to be able to switch gears, attend to multiple details, while maintaining professionalism and strategic focus.
-Position requires flexibility in working hours. The position may require travel. Global communications in other time zones may require attention outside of regular office hours.
-The roles, reporting structure, budgets, priorities and timelines are new and under ongoing revision. The position requires adaptability and breadth and depth institutional knowledge
