Posted on: Aug.05.2021

The Impact & Improvement (IM2) team focuses on supporting the impact and improvement of schools, districts and states that are transforming the way students learn through personalized, competency-based education. We use impact assessments, continuous improvement, and basic exploratory research in a user-driven approach to build the field of equity-focused PCBL. The Impact and Improvement team strives to identify effective approaches and structures to change systems and better support our most marginalized learners and their educators.

The Director reports to the Senior Director of impact and Improvement. This is an ideal position for someone with a deep understanding of and familiarity with integrating research, data collection, and policy implementation to drive more equitable outcomes in K-12 education. The Director will be our team’s lead in 2 – 3 of our core and emerging states (e.g., AZ, MN, ND, NV, SC, UT) as well as have a focus on continuous improvement for our policy efforts. As such, the Director will work closely with the Policy and Advocacy division along with supporting several IM2 projects and research efforts, such as providing leadership in the implementation of State Impact Assessments and other innovative student-centered learning research efforts. In addition, the Director will participate with our highly collaborative team as we build other IM2 components to support the state efforts of the other KnowledgeWorks divisions (Strategic Foresight, Policy and Advocacy, KnowledgeWorks in Schools).

As part of the larger KnowledgeWorks team, this position will actively participate in our ongoing diversity, equity, inclusion and justice work. In partnership with Promise54, we are actively reflecting and improving our internal culture, as well as growing our competencies to effectively engage in antiracist education systems change with our partners. Engaging in this work is an essential part of each team members personal professional development, external capability building and contribution to the culture and work of KnowledgeWorks.
