We’re recruiting for an Operations Improvement Director for Europe. The role can be anywhere based in Europe, but with a preference for the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain or Poland. The main purpose of this role is to define a clear operational and technical strategy to reduce manufacturing costs across the European landscaping estate of over 80 factories and 100 manufacturing lines and ensure that the strategy is implemented directly through the MD's and Technical Directors of the OpCo's within the Platform. You’ll also work closely with the technical teams within the OpCo's to determine best practice mix designs and ensure that through benchmarking and unit costs are reduced and best practices adopted. You’ll also have experience to gain a clear view of the market place at a strategic level and understand manufacturing trends and guide OpCo's and decide upon the best selection of new capital equipment to lower production costs and widen the ability to manufacture new innovative products. Work closely with OpCo and Platform management on talent development and succession plans. Drive increased operational excellence throughout the platform with a thorough implementation and acceptance of the 5 Fundamentals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for a number of tasks including:

-Raw material and mix design optimization
-Drive operational excellence through the 5 fundamentals (safety, quality, productivity, preventive maintenance and housekeeping)
-Drive labour efficiencies following manufacturing diagnostic reviews > Stock management with reviews and improvement initiatives
-Performance improvement, roadmaps, KPIs after leading site reviews and utilising support teams from APG/CRH
-Drive Best Practice across the platform and with share together with Oldcastle APG
-Talent spotting, development and succession planning in Operations and Technical across the OpCos; identify issues within facilities and proactively address them
-Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, you must be considered to be a landscaping operational and technical expert with deep business knowledge; known as an industry expert whose views and advice are sought. Ideally you’ll have proven experience in operating at Group level and be able to promote both the business and yourself effectively with CRH senior leadership. You should also possess demonstrable and effective leadership skills and have an ability to lead and guide OpCo operations staff. You well-developed interpersonal skills and strong on relationship building at all levels should be apparent and have been demonstrated throughout your career. In addition, you’ll be skilled in manufacturing improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence and have extensive networks both externally, with the ability to build the same internally.
