About the role

The Chef Manager is accountable for the daily operations of the kitchen and is required to lead an effective, and efficient team of food services staff and to effectively work with the Residential Services Manager, staff, residents and their families.

Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, your focus will be:
-Preparation, presentation and serving of high quality food and meals to residents that meet their nutritional and hydration needs, special requirements and preferences
-Liaise with Care Manager, nursing staff and the wider care team to ensure residents are provided with meals that meet both dietary and texture specific needs
-Ensure all newly admitted residents are provided with meals suitable to their dietary requirements
-Assist the Residential Services Manager in the efficient rostering of Food Services Staff
-Ensuring the services delivered reflect agreed budgets
-Responding to variances against actual results in monthly results and implement strategies to rectify variance with the assistance of the Manager

Skills & experience

-Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or higher
-Food Safety Supervisor Training (Health & Community) - HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005 and HLTFSE007
-Experience in supervision of staff
-Awareness of the risks associated with providing food services in aged care and ability to implement documented requirements and preferences of residents
-Well-developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
-Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with residents, families, employees and volunteers; patience; common sense and an understanding of client service
