Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Project Manager
This position will support the design, implementation, and execution of occupational health, safety, and environmental procedures at Bayer locations in Canada to ensure compliance with all internal and external standards.

This role will also be is responsible for leading various HSE team projects, including but not limited to, Canadian HSE Management System, Business Continuity Management, and Wellness.

This position is highly collaborative and will lead and/or participate on multifunctional teams, including interactions with Business, Site and Functional personnel at all levels of the organization, including: leadership, operational, and technical personnel.

What you will do:

• Provide support for approx. 10 operating locations and / or support designated business teams in Canada that operate 365 days per year
• Collaborate cross-functionally with multi-disciplinary groups, such as Business Leaders, Site Leaders, Regional HSE, Site HSE and technical personnel to establish cost effective and appropriate measures to reduce risks, comply with safety and health regulations, and to realize established objectives
• Ensure completion of incident investigations, root cause analysis, and trend analysis for incidents, including the identification of corrective actions, tracking actions to completion, and verification of the effectiveness of actions taken
• Conduct facility HSE compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments, including participation during corporate and/or external audits
• Lead and own various HSE projects, including, but not limited to:
• Business Continuity Management:
? Creating a best-practice BCM program to protect information assets, ensuring appropriate information security measures and disaster recovery processes are in place. This includes working with business units to understand business processes and uncover potential risks through using the Business Impact Assessment (BIA) process
? Lead annual Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan testing activities to ensure Bayer Canada is prepared to keep or bring systems online during a DR/BCP event
• Serve as a subject matter expert to support the emerging management system requirements by developing strategy to implement these requirements across Canada
• Liaises with NA Occupational Medicine team to ensure outsourced medical provider is complying with internal policies and protocols for Canada
• Co-ordinate Workers Compensation claims and return-to-work plans for all injuries in Canada
• Champion of the Canadian LiveWell Council and liaison with regional/global wellness teams and local HR. Identify Canadian specific wellness focus areas and goals for the organization
• Partner with the business and be an active member in key business meetings to provide HSE leadership and support

Who you are:

• Minimum of a B.A. or B.S. in an Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or Safety management, or related field
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience related to HSE within the agricultural, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, research, healthcare or chemical industry
• BCM experience is preferred, but not required
• Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal Occupational, Health & Safety standards that impact Bayer operations
• Leadership skills, including ability to influence and communicate at all organizational levels
• Ability to learn new software programs, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to management
• Professional designation, preferred but not required (CRSP, CHSC, CIH, etc.)
• Experience with implementation of ISO-like HSE Management Systems, preferred
• Must possess a valid drivers’ license
• Excellent program/project management skills
• Must be willing to travel: 25% Domestic
