Who we need
At the helm of a team of quality assurance professionals, we have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager at our plant in Ajax. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, you will work to improve the quality management system of the plant, while also upholding the high standards of food safety and compliance in manufacturing. You will lead a team to create the top-quality products that Mother Parkers is known for.
What you will do:
• Lead. You will guide a team of nine other QA professionals in carrying out their daily tasks in quality assurance. As a member of the Quality Leadership Team, you will lead the development and implementation of quality objectives for the plant.
• Improve the quality management system. You will coordinate SQF certification and other quality audits that assess the effectiveness of our quality management system. You will then enhance the QMS by implementing changes to improve effectiveness.
• Ensure food safety standards are met. You will be responsible for ensuring that all the products coming out of the plant are safe and meet quality specifications.
• Collaborate with other departments. You will work closely with the plant manager, engineers, production manager, HRBP, controller, and planner to achieve site objectives relating to cost, quality, environmental safety, and delivery of the best possible product to our customers.
• Interact with customers. You will be at the frontline leading customer audits to improve our product and service. You will interact with customer quality professionals, responding to their queries, and seeking ways to improve product quality.

What you bring to the role:
• The experience. You have a minimum of seven years of experience in the food and beverage manufacturing industry. You also have an understanding of overseeing a quality management system and food safety audits. You have experience in the use of Statistical Process Control applications and managing a HACCP-based food system. Additionally, you have a working knowledge of the laboratory analytical equipment function and its subsequent operation.
• The education. You have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline. You have also completed HACCP training and have GFSI scheme training, with a thorough understanding of the program requirements.
• The leadership skills. You have experience in people management and can guide a team of professionals to achieve the objectives that you have set. You can be a mentor to them, offering insight into how best they can improve the quality of their work.
• The interpersonal skills. You are comfortable in social situations where your communication skills truly shine. You can interact with customers regarding products and confidently relay reports and updates to senior management.
• The initiative. You are driven and can take charge of a project from start to finish. You are decisive in your and can perform your duties independently. You have the innate eagerness to get things done, and can make it happen on your own.
