Position Purpose

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance to third party audit and regulatory requirements are met and exceeded.

Key Accountabilities

To identify all deviations relating to quality, product safety, sanitation, GMP’s, AIB, regulatory agencies, and customer standards, and to determine and execute corrective actions in a timely manner, and verify their completion.

Responsibilities

• Review and update existing HACCP plans and food safety policies for the facility
• Review, update, and maintain all food safety documentation
• Ensure compliance to regulatory and customer requirements
• Maintaining and updating HACCP plans
• Maintaining and updating SOP’s
• Schedule HACCP team meetings
• Complete annual CCP validation
• Complete annual CCP training for appropriate personnel
• Maintaining and updating food safety control sheets and all other documentation in the plant
• Execution of internal system audits.
o Prepare and update internal audit schedule
o Ensure internal audit reports are completed on times
o Verify corrective actions are completed on time and as stated
• Daily enforcement of GMP’s, third party standards, and Aspire Bakeries Limited policies/standards throughout the facility
• Issue food safety topics for period GMP training in a timely manner
• Enforce compliance to third party, government, and customer standards as they apply to the operation of the facility and our products
• Training plant personnel as necessary in regards to procedures, documentation, and conduct as relates to GMPs and Food Safety
• Identify all unacceptable/critical conditions and take immediate action to resolve all deviations
• Consult with production, maintenance, sanitation, and warehouse personnel on a daily basis to determine corrective actions for identified issues
• Monitor GMPs throughout the plant and take corrective actions to eliminate any deviations. Promote awareness on issues relating to good personal hygiene and GMP requirements throughout the plant facilities
• Assist in maintaining quality standards of all finished product
• Contribute as a key member of the Quality team
• Act as back-up to QA Lab Technologist
• Undertake any special assignment or project as directed by the QA Manager in a timely and professional manner
• To identify all deviations relating to quality, product safety, sanitation, GMPS, AIB, Regulatory Agencies, and customer standards. Determine and carry out corrective actions in a timely manner. Verify completion
• Ensure completion and accuracy of all documentation
• To assist whenever possible in corrective actions and preventative measures
• To exercise sound judgement, good interpersonal skills and integrity
• To provide timely communication on all critical issues
• Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
o Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
o Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
o Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
• Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
o Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, hand washing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills
o Report any foreign material findings
o As part of food security, report any unusual people or behavior

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Computer skills
• Must be detail-oriented, analytical and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
• Enthusiastic and capable of working in a fast-paced changing environment
• Able to climb ladders, stairs, and work on heights
• Ability to analyze problems and provide workable solutions

Required

• Post Secondary Education in Food Science or related field
• HACCP Certification

Preferred

Work experience in the food industry - bakery experience is an asset

• Aspire Bakeries is a 24 hour/ 7 day manufacturing operation
• The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80 degrees fahrenheit depending on the department
• The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold.
